Shameless Season 11
Role: Art Dept. Production Assistant TV Series 2020
Common duties on this job included graphic design, coordinating with vendors, and researching references for set pieces.
Fun fact for people who like door knobs: Before COVID a show that shot on a backlot would have to rent door hardware to place on all the doors, and then take it off and return it when you were done filming. This job started right as the world allowed film work to start again after COVID isolation, and at the time Shameless was one of the few productions working on the Warner Brother’s lot. Due to some budget cuts at WB a man named Mike, who diligently managed the hardware (door knobs/hinges/window hardware/etc.) for the WB backlot sets, was unfortunately no longer employed. This meant that every time we filmed on the backlot streets, it was my duty to choose and all of the door hardware for hundreds of doors, and because COVID changed the backlot procedures, we were instructed to leave them installed for future productions. We filmed on almost every backlot Warner Brother’s has, so if you see one of the hundreds of doors in a show or movie filmed shot on the Warner Brother’s backlot, there is a very good chance I picked out that door knob.
